Posey Commission

When I was at the Jane Lew Craft Show this Labor Day, I met a lady that wanted all three of her chihuahua's painted for her husbands Christmas present. They were fun to paint.

"Gus and Penny"

"Gus and Penny" 18 x 24 pastel on sanded paper.

This painting was purchased by Bo and Lindsey Dolan. They attended the annual Gala benefiting Tamarack and purchased a certificate I had donated to the silent auction. Gus and Penny are their beautiful dogs.

"Which Way Are We Going?" 16 x 20 pastel on sanded paper. $700.00

"Blaze" 16 x 20 pastel on sanded paper. Blaze is a beautiful Border Collie owned by a friend of mine.

I met a lot of wonderful folks at this show. It's a small world too. The folks that had the booth across from me were from the Huntington area, but the wife was originally from San Antonio, Texas. We just relocated from Texas to WV in 2006. After a nice afternoon we found we had a lot in common. The weather was lousy the weekend of the show, but still had a good time. Completed four paintings, worked hard.

Demonstration at Tamarack

"Silverboy" 16 x 20 on sanded paper $700.00. This painting was done in preparation for the Kentuck Crafted Show in March 2010. It is beautifully framed.

"Jake" 16 x 20 on sanded paper. Commissioned by A. Rothe

"Daisy" 16x 20 pastel on sanded.

Each year my friend Pamela and I have demonstrated our craft at Tamarack in Beckley, West Virginia. This last November we were there for three days and had a great time. We met a couple from Canada and spent dinner and breakfast with. I also painted their pet "Daisy" that weekend. I continue to use pastels as my main medium but with be dabbling again with my oils and maybe even work on some watercolor. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here are some paintings that I completed while at Tamarack.

On the Road Again, My Fall Schedule

Well things will be getting busy again. I have several opportunities to meet new folks and see old friends.

Black Domino

Black Domino is one of my best selling prints. He is currently on exhibit at Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg, WV, where I have a show featuring some of my Delightful Dogs. A gentleman from Washington, DC came to see the show this last weekend and purchased Black Domino. I know he is going to a wonderful home.

King of My Heart

This little beauty was completed during Festivall at Charleston, WV. A wonderful gentleman came by and was so enamoured with the painting I sent him a print. He liked the use of the blues and purples in the painting.

Vern

This is Vern, owners Diane and Charlie enjoy his company. It is a good thing that they live out in the country with plenty of running room. This painting was done during a demonstration at Mountain State Arts and Crafts at Ripley in July.

The Kentucky Crafted was Awesome

Well the Kentucky Crafted has come and gone. All in all the weekend was one to put in the memory book. My friend Pamela Gatens and I worked very hard for the weekend, but it was worth it. We both learned a lot about a show that size and meet some really wonderful people. My friend Marianne and her daughter Meridyth were also there for the weekend so we had dinner together each night and shared the daily experiences. I worked at demoing again this weekend which always brings lots of comments from the crowds. Thanks to all that stopped by to say "hi".

Doesn't this make you want Spring to appear?

A photo of Jo Lyng was given to me by a fellow artist. I had several requests to do a Chow for my note cards but did not have a good reference photo. Then appears this sweetheart. I loved the glow of the sun on her coat. With the weather resting around freezing, it certainly warmed my soul.

"Jo Lyng" 16 x 20 watercolor on 140# CP arches, $200 SOLD

Getting Ready for Kentucky

It has been a busy month. I have decided to do a 2010 dog calendar and wanted it to be strictly watercolor images. I was also looking for really unusual dog poses, well that was not so easy. Dogs a generally sleeping or if a camera is in place they look at you with a goofy expression. The three new images will be available on the 2010 calendar, as notecards and also available in prints. As always the originals are also available for sale.
