Cottage at The Greenbrier

This a commissioned piece for the Governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels. The tree, I have been told, is approximately 500 years old.

My Grandson, Mitchel, at The Greenbrier

Mitchel wanted to come with me as we setup the Christmas Art Exhibit. He decided that he was going to judge the show and chose the swan painting as first place. Believe or not he did not know it was my painting.

Front Entrance to The Greenbrier Resort

During the 2010 Christmas Exhibit there were requests for oils of the main entrance to the resort. I did paint one with a summer scene. The painting sold almost immediately. 18 x 24 oils.

Lobby Staircase at The Greenbrier

This is a very detailed painting done for the Christmas 2011 exhibit in the Spring Room at the resort. At the top of the stairs is a large mirror which repeats the reflection several times. The mural at the foot of the stairs was a challenge to get the details. This painting is a 11 x 14.

Third Edition of Fallen Soldiers

This is the third of five portraits of fallen soldiers from the West Greenbrier County. The next dedication is scheduled on November 5th at the Rainelle Library.

Croquette Tournament at The Greenbrier

A friend of mine took some pictures during a recent croquette tournament at The Greenbrier. Thought this was a great picture to paint. Painted it last weekend while demoing at the resort.

Veterans Killed in Action from So. West Virginia, Project

I am privileged to be asked to paint some veterans of various wars that were killed in action defending our country. This painting is the second of the series.

At least twice a year I demo at Tamarack the Best of West Virignia, Beckley, WV. This was a painting that I started on Saturday and drew a crowd to see the finishing touches.

Todd

Todd was a handsome Pom. He was commissioned by a client that I had met at a Kentucky show. His eyes had a wonderful sparkle to them. I hope that his owners will cherish the painting as much as they cherish is memory.

Greenbrier Resort Main Entrance

Last year in May, I was part of an exhibit at the Greenbrier Resort. During that time, I met a man from California that liked some of the watercolors that I had done of the interiors of the Greenbrier. He has since purchased several of my paintings and called at Christmas to commission a painting of the new main entrance.

I have been wanting to break out my oil paints and brushes for sometime. Just finished this painting last week and working on a few others as well. It was fun to have the freedom to paint with the oily stuff again.

Portrait for Mr. Jim Justice

I was honored last week with a request to paint a pastel portrait of Mr. Jim Justice's beloved champion hunting dog. Mr. Justice is the owner of The Greenbrier Resort located in White Sulphur Springs, WV. It is a beautiful historic hotel also known for the Bunker which was built during the 50's as a atomic bomb shelter for the government officials in Washington DC. The hotel is a great place to visit and a luxurious place to stay.

Isn't he beautiful? A friend from Florida contacted me a couple of weeks ago to have the painting done for her friend. Such a sweet little dog. Thank you Frances for giving me the opportunity to paint Charlie.

Weekend at Tamarack

This beautiful Airedale is owned by a family that I met while participating at Festival.
I loved the possibility to use some wonderful colors to bring this guy to life.

Once more I had the priviledge to spend 3 days at Tamarack and demonstrate my art. I completed 5 paintings during that time and I am attaching a few for you to see.

"Curious George's"
I am doing some paintings in preparation for a show at Tamarack. Tamarack got very creative last year and decided to do a show featuring paintings viewed with 3D glasses. After conversations with my fellow artisan, Pamela Gatens, decided I should use some colorful pastels to creat some works around domestic farm animals. The donkeys were a photo taken in Texas during my trip for a workshop in Kingsville. They were in a pasture outside of Columbus, Texas as became very curious when we stopped to take photos. The pretty calf was from a visit to a local pasture.

My granddaughter has been staying we us for a few days. She asks everyday for me to paint with her. The painting of Laura is from a picture I took some time back.

Morning at Carnegie

Spent Friday at Carnegie with some friends and fellow artisans. Trying some new things with my pastels and like how things are turning our. Want to pass on what I am doing differently with my friends. Using the pastel blending tools and getting the background techniques with Nupastels and not the soft pastels. Really like the effect and the appearance of an oil background.

Greenbrier Valley Theatre 16th Annual Art Auction

Attended and demoed at the art auction last night. Really enjoyed the auction this year. One of my students donated 2 paintings. What a pleasure to see Ty Hylton experience the auction. I spent the evening working on a rooster for the event. It sold towards the end of the auction. Was please with the results and plan to do some more roosters for the December Tamarack show.
